7 Easy Ways to Fix Spotify not Working on Roku

To find and install Spotify on your supported Roku device, open the Roku Channel Store by selecting Streaming Channels from your home screen, and then browse the Music genre or select Search Channels and search for ‘Spotify’. When you add the channel, it will appear at the bottom of the list of channels under Home on the main screen of your Roku device. 

How to fix Spotify not working on Roku?

1. Check whether you Roku supports Spotify

The most likely reason you are unable to see Spotify in the Roku Channel Store is that your Roku device does not support Spotify. To help determine if your Roku device supports Spotify, you will need to know the software version and device model. To find this information, go to your Roku device’s home screen and select Settings > System > About.

Spotify is supported on all Roku TV models and select Roku streaming players (models 3600 and above). The minimum required software version is Roku OS 8.2.

2. Update Spotify

Your Spotify app for Roku may be outdated, that’s why it’s not working. If the app hasn’t been updated in a long time, you may not be able to access the app’s features properly.

  1. Press the “Home” button on your Roku remote.
  2. Next, press the right arrow button on your Roku TV remote and select the Spotify app from the list of channels.
  3. Press the Asterisk button (*) on the Roku remote. A pop-up menu will appear on the screen.
  4. Select “Check for Updates”.
  5. If an update is found, the Spotify app will be updated.

3. Update Roku system

  1. Press the Home button on your Roku remote.
  2. Select Settings from the home screen.
  3. Click System – System update.
  4. Select Update Now to update your Roku device.

4. Remove Spotify and Add it again

Remove the Spotify channel from the Roku home screen by navigating to the channel tile, pressing the * key on your remote and choosing ‘Remove channel’. Then restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. Once your player starts up again, add the Spotify channel back once more.

After removing a channel, remember to restart your Roku to clear its memory before reinstalling the channel. Without the restart, you may not get a clean reinstall.

Depending on your Roku model and Roku version number you’ll find the System restart option under either Settings > System > Power or under Settings > System restart.

5. Clear Cache on Roku

  1. Turn on your Roku and press the Home button on your remote.
  2. Make sure that the Home option is selected on your Roku’s interface
  3. Now, do the following functions on your Roku remote.
  • Press the Home button 5 times.
  • Next, press the Up button.
  • Press the Rewind button 2 times.
  • Press Fast Forward 2 times.

Wait for 15 to 30 seconds. The Roku device will remove the cache & junk files and restart your Roku streaming device automatically.

6. Use your phone

Try logging in with the roku. While it is hanging, go to your smart phone on the same network and open spotify. On the app on the smart phone, look on the bottom for available devices. Your roku device will show up there. Select the roku device and then the login will move forward on the roku device.
