Spotify Blend is one of the most popular social features on the platform. It combines Spotify’s personalization capabilities and collaborative playlist functionality into a single shared playlist, reflecting both your musical tastes and those of your friends or family.

Spotify Blend allows you to blend with up to 10 people in a group—whether it’s your running club, favorite coworkers, group chat, book club, or chosen family. It even gives you the chance to blend with some of your favorite artists. The best part of this Blend feature is that you can use it with either a Free or Premium Spotify account. Follow this guide to know everything about Spotify Blend, including how to create, join, leave, and more.

How to Create a Spotify Blend

You can create and join a Spotify Blend on mobile and desktop devices. We recommend using the mobile app, so you can see the percentage score showing how similar your taste is to your friends.

  1. Tap Search on Spotify and select “Made For You.”
  2. Find “Create a Blend” and tap it.
  3. Tap “Invite” and then send the link to your friends to Blend with.

Once your friend has accepted the invite, Spotify will generate your shared Blend playlist, which will include songs and recommendations that reflect everyone’s music preferences and tastes. You’ll even be able to see which songs were added for which friend.

This Blend playlist isn’t static. It is typically updated daily based on what everyone in the group is currently listening to.

Both Spotify free and premium users can join the Blend. Spotify free users can also view all songs. However, they can only listen to the Blend in shuffle mode, and there is no download option for offline playback.

  2. Tap the “Join” button, and Spotify will create an animated Blend story for you, showing the percentage of taste match between you and your friend, with the song and artist that brings you together.
  3. At the end of the story, tap “Go to your Blend” to see the Blend playlist.
  4. To review the Blend story at any time, tap the three dots of the playlist and select “view Blend story.”

You can only remove the Blend playlist from your Library on desktop. However, this doesn’t mean to leave the Blend; you can still find it under “Made For You.”
