Spotify will play suggested songs if you turned on Autoplay, aiming to provide you nonstop listening and help you find new songs. However, there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes. Not everyone likes this feature. Some people just want to listen to songs in their playlists.
However, what makes people frustrated is that Spotify still autoplays suggested songs after a playlist/album ends even though Autoplay is off. Don’t worry, here in this post, we will introduce 4 effective methods to stop Spotify from playing suggested songs and reclaim control over your listening experience. Keep reading.
Spotify autoplay is designed for you to enjoy nonstop listening. When your song, album or playlist ends, it will play something similar. This is convenient when you are busy with other things and unable to switch songs. However, some people don’t want to listen to music that’s not in their playlists, in such cases you can turn off Autoplay.
On desktop
It seems that Autoplay on desktop is controlling the feature’s behavior across all platforms, so try disabling it on the desktop app to see if that does the trick.
On mobile
When you turn off Autoplay, the music stops after playing the last song in the album or playlist. If you don’t want the music to stop, you can turn on Repeat, so the playlist starts again automatically.
On desktop
Click the below icon. When it turns green, the current playlist/album will repeat.
Premium users have access to the Enhance playlist feature, which automatically adds similar songs to your playlist as long as the feature is turned on. You can turn it off by clicking on the Enhance button at the top of your playlist.
If you don’t have the Enhance button, it’s possible that the recommendations were added by the Smart Shuffle feature. This feature adds some recommended tracks to the playlist where it was activated and it’s only available for Premium users.
To turn it off, you just need to tap the Shuffle button again to gray it out. In case you want to use the regular shuffle function, make sure to select the correct option when tapping the Shuffle button again.

On mobile
However, if you are a Spotify free user, you can’t disable shuffle for most playlists. This is because Spotify free users are limited to shuffle play on mobile devices, except some playlists made for you. Luckily we have found a solution for you to disable shuffle play on mobile even with Spotify free, keep reading.
In general, if you’re using Spotify Free on your phone, and your playlist has less than 15 tracks in it, the app will automatically add new songs to the playlist so that its runtime increases and you don’t get the same songs twice. That’s why you will encounter music that’s not in your playlist. This feature cannot be disabled, but if you add more than 15 songs, the additions from Spotify would disappear.
If you have toggled off autoplay, enhanced playlist and shuffle, but still get recommended songs queuing to play, the ultimate solution is to download Spotify playlists and play them in offline mode. When you are in offline mode, Spotify can’t recommend songs to you. When you turn on Offline mode, only your downloads will play. Anything you haven’t downloaded is now grayed out and unavailable.

Switching on offline mode is 100% working to prevent Spotify recommendations, however, this feature is exclusive to Spotify premium users. Spotify free users can’t download music and turn on Offline Mode.
