Apple Music subscribers can listen to thousands of Dolby Atmos music tracks using any headphones with the latest version of Apple Music on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. Dolby Atmos music plays back automatically when available for a song if you listen with compatible Apple or Beats headphones. For other headphones, go to Settings > Music > Audio and set Dolby Atmos to Always On. Dolby Atmos is available with all Apple Music plans, including Student, Individual and Family.

What is Dolby Atmos?

Dolby Atmos is an object-based audio technology to create a fully immersive 3D sound environment. While traditional stereo music is limited to left and right channels, Dolby Atmos is freed from fixed channels. Producers and artists can place individual sound elements all around you. They can also decide the volume, size, and depth of each instrument (vocal, guitar, drums, etc.) to reveal nuanced details.

Today, Dolby Atmos is the leading standard for 3D audio across film & television, music, gaming, sound systems, smart TVs, smartphones, and wireless headphones. It is also adopted by Apple Music, Tidal, and Amazon Music Unlimited as the dominant spatial audio format for music production and streaming.

How to find Dolby Atmos songs?

Not all Apple Music songs are available in Dolby Atmos. To see if a song is available in Dolby Atmos, play the song and check for the Dolby Atmos badge in Now Playing or the album’s detail page. If every song on an album is available in Dolby Atmos, you’ll see the Dolby Atmos badge under the album art. Some songs are available in Dolby Atmos only on a particular version of an album.

You can also find music available in Dolby Atmos on Apple Musicʼs editorial playlists.
