How to set Spotify sleep timer on iPhone, Android, Mac, and Windows PC?

Spotify’s sleep timer feature allows you to turn Spotify off after a certain amount of time. You don’t have to worry about leaving Spotify running and draining your battery after you fall asleep. But the Spotify sleep timer only works on the mobile app for Android and iOS. It is not available on the web player or desktop version of the Spotify app. Currently, you can set the sleep timer to end playback after 5, 10, 15, 30, 45 minutes, 1 hour, or End of track. However, there is no way to set the Spotify sleep timer for longer.

How to Set a Spotify Sleep Timer on iOS and Android?

Set Sleep Timer for Songs

Here’s how to use the sleep timer on Spotify, so you can listen to your favorite songs without killing your battery. In order to set a sleep timer for your music playback, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Spotify app on your iOS or Android mobile device.
  2. Start playing a song.
  3. Tap its banner at the bottom of the screen to open the playback controls, then tap the three dots in the top-right corner of the screen.
  4. Scroll down and tap Sleep timer, and a new page will open.
  5. Select how long you would like to listen to music until the app automatically stops the audio.

Set Sleep Timer for Podcasts

There is a separate way to set a sleep timer for podcasts. In order to set a Spotify sleep timer for podcasts, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Spotify app on your iOS or Android mobile device.
  2. Start playing a podcast.
  3. Open it into fullscreen by tapping its title in the media playback bar at the bottom of the app.
  4. When full-screened, press the moon-shaped symbol to the right of the Pause button to open the sleep timer option.
  5. Choose how long you want to listen to the podcast until it stops.

How to Set Sleep Timer on Spotify Web Player or Desktop Apps?

On macOS Monterey and earlier

1. Go to System Preferences on your Mac and choose “Battery” settings. In macOS Catalina and earlier, you will need to choose Energy Saver.

2. Click Schedule. Set the preferred time for your Mac to shut down or sleep and click Apply to confirm.

3. Now your Mac will go into sleep mode at the desired time and Spotify stops then.

On macOS Ventura and Sonoma

  1. Open Terminal app on your Mac, enter sudo pmset repeat sleep MTWRFSU 20:00:00
  2. You can change the days and time (24 hour clock) as you wish, then press Return on your keyboard. (the example above is for all days, 8:00 PM).

Option 2. Set sleep timer on mobile and use Spotify Connect

Set a sleep timer for Spotify while a song was playing on your phone. Then choose your computer from Spotify Connect, the music started playing from your computer. You will get the “The sleep timer will stop when you use connect” message on your phone. Ignore it as it still works.
