Spotify has established itself as one of the most outstanding music services available globally, captivating millions of users with its extensive music library and innovative features. With its sleek and user-friendly interface, Spotify provides a seamless experience for users to discover and listen to their favorite music.

One of Spotify’s standout features is Autoplay, which ensures the music never stops. Autoplay enables Spotify to automatically play similar songs when you reach the end of an album, playlist, or selection of songs. This feature enhances the listening experience and keeps the user engaged with music without any interruptions, making it effortless to enjoy hours of uninterrupted music.

Furthermore, Spotify’s Autoplay feature uses advanced algorithms to recommend songs based on the user’s listening preferences and listening history. This algorithmic recommendation system ensures that users are exposed to new music that aligns with their musical preferences, making it a great tool for music discovery.

In conclusion, Spotify’s Autoplay feature is a game-changer in the world of music streaming, providing a seamless and immersive listening experience for millions of users worldwide. With its personalized recommendations and smooth functionality, Autoplay has become a must-have feature for all music enthusiasts who value convenience and uninterrupted listening pleasure. Part 1. Stop Spotify From Automatically Playing on mobile/tablet/computer

1. Switch Autoplay similar content off

When you reach the end of an album, playlist, or selection of songs, Spotify automatically plays similar songs so the music never stops. If you don’t want autoplay, you can turn it off.

If you are using Spotify on a mobile device, such as a phone or tablet, you can stop Spotify from automatically playing by following these steps:

  1. Open the Spotify app and tap on “Your Library” in the bottom.
  2. Tap your profile picture at the top to access settings.
  3. Tap “Playback” and toggle off the “Autoplay similar content” switch.

If you are using Spotify on a desktop or laptop computer, you can stop Spotify from automatically playing by following these steps:

  1. Open the Spotify app and click on the down arrow next to your profile picture in the top right corner.
  2. Click on “Settings” in the dropdown menu.
  3. Scroll down to the “Autoplay” section and toggle off the switch next to “Autoplay similar songs when your music ends.”

By disabling the Autoplay feature, Spotify will no longer automatically start playing songs after the current song or playlist has ended.

2. Disable AI DJ

The DJ is a personalized AI guide that knows you and your music taste so well that it can choose what to play for you. This feature will deliver a curated lineup of music alongside commentary around the tracks and artists you like in a stunningly realistic voice.

If you don’t want to use the feature, you just need to press stop, exit out of it, or hit play on another track, playlist, podcast or audiobook. That way you won’t listen to the DJ. Currently there is no way to disable the AI fully.

3. Sign out everywhere

If you logged in Spotify account on many devices,

This logs you out of Spotify everywhere you’re logged in, including the mobile, tablet, web player and desktop apps. This doesn’t include partner devices (e.g. speakers, games consoles, and TVs), so for those go to your apps page and choose REMOVE ACCESS.

Go to open.spotify.com, log in to your account and click your profile picture at the top, and select Account. Scroll down and click Sign out everywhere. Then log in to Spotify on the devices you want.

Part 2. Stop Spotify From Automatically Playing in car

1. Turn off Handoff

Handoff lets you start something on one device and instantly pick it up on other devices using your iCloud account.

By default, Handoff enables the seamless transition between different devices, such as switching from an iPhone to an iPad or from an iPhone to a Mac, without the need to manually open the app on the other device. This convenience is akin to seeing Safari, Notes, Messages, or other Apple applications appear in the Dock on your Mac. Strangely, a subset of users has discovered that disabling Handoff entirely can prevent this “handoff” occurrence when your iPhone connects to your car’s Bluetooth.

It’s important to note that turning off Handoff will result in forfeiting its beneficial features. For users who rely on Handoff, a possible workaround could involve setting a reminder on their iPhone to reactivate the feature once their driving session concludes.

  1. On your iOS device, open Settings > General.
  2. Tap AirPlay & Handoff, and turn off Handoff.

Part 3. Stop Spotify From Automatically Playing with Bluetooth

1. Use Apple Shortcuts

With the debut of iOS 14, Apple introduced the Automation tab, which allows the activation of shortcuts based on various scenarios. As expected, there is a choice to initiate a shortcut when your iPhone establishes a connection with Bluetooth devices. What adds another layer of versatility to this solution is the ability to specifically choose which Bluetooth device activates the automation.

  1. Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the Automation tab in the bottom toolbar.
  3. Select Create Personal Automation.
  4. Scroll down and select Bluetooth.
  5. Tap Device.
  6. Select the name of your car from the list of paired Bluetooth devices.
  7. Tap Done in the top right corner.
  8. Tap Next in the top right corner.
  9. Select the search box at the bottom of the page.
  10. Search for Pause.
