Where does Amazon Music download to?

Amazon Music is a music streaming service offered by Amazon. You can listen to music for free, but with many limitations. If you’re already an Amazon Prime member, your subscription includes Prime Music at no additional cost. Alternatively, you can opt for Amazon Music Unlimited to access on-demand and fully offline playback for $12.99 per month, or $11.99 per month/$119 per year for Premium members. Additionally, Amazon features a digital music store where you can purchase tracks or albums from your favorite artists, available to all users.

Amazon Music Prime/Unlimited members can conveniently download music for offline listening. But offline listening is only available for All-Access Playlists for Amazon Prime. Whereas you can always download music tracks you’ve purchased on Amazon Music. However, locating the storage location for your downloaded Amazon Music files can be a bit challenging. Part 1. Amazon Music Prime/Unlimited songs download location

Amazon Music Prime and Amazon Music Unlimited users can download these titles to their Amazon Music app for offline playback.

  • Amazon Music for Prime members can only download All-Access Playlists to listen offline.
  • Amazon Music Unlimited members can download any songs, albums, and playlists in Standard, HD, Ultra HD, or Spatial Audio quality for offline listening.

How to download songs on Amazon Music

  1. Open the Amazon Music app on your mobile or desktop device. Sign in to your Amazon account if prompted.
  2. Find the song, playlist, or album you want to download.
  3. Tap the Download icon under the title to download all songs.
  4. OR tap More Options(three dots) next to the song and select Download to download the individual song.

For Android devices, downloaded music is saved at /Android/data/com.amazon.mp3/files/Music/. You can also choose to download Amazon Music songs to your SD card if your phone has one. To find downloaded files, go to Card/Android/Media/Com.Amazon.MP3.

Note: If you can’t see folders under /Android/data, go to Settings and enable “Show hidden files.”

For iOS devices, locating the precisely downloaded Amazon Music files is challenging. Only cached data is typically accessible, stored at “music.amazon.com/showDebugOptions.”

On Mac or Windows computers, you can change the download locations in Settings. You can find “Offline Download Location” and “Download Location” from the Settings menu. “Offline Download Location” is for Amazon Music streaming content, while “Download Location” is for your own music, including your purchased music.

The original default download locations for Amazon Music streaming library are:

  1. Open the Amazon Music app on your desktop.
  2. Click your profile icon and select “Settings.”
  3. Scroll down to click “Offline Download Location.”
  4. Click “Select Folder” and browse your computer to choose any folder you like.

Q: Can I play downloaded Amazon Music songs with another app or device?

Unfortunately, no. When you navigate to the location, you won’t find playable songs. This is because downloaded Amazon Music songs are only accessible within the Amazon Music app. It is not possible to export songs for use on other apps and devices.

Part 2. Where are purchased songs downloaded to

You can download purchased music using the Amazon Music for PC, Mac, Android, iOS app, and Web Browser. The purchased songs download location varies on different devices.

On PC and Mac

When you download purchased Amazon Music songs using the Amazon Music app on PC or Mac, they are saved to the following location.

For Windows: C:\Users[YourUsername]\Music\Amazon Music.

For Mac: /Users/YourUsername/Music/Amazon Music

As mentioned earlier, the download location for purchased songs is under Settings > Download Location. You can view and change it to other folders with similar steps.

You can download purchased music directly from the Amazon Music web player to your computer as MP3 files. Just like any other file downloaded through your browser, purchased Amazon Music songs wil typically save to your computer’s default “Downloads” folder. 

On Android

Downloaded music is saved by default to an Amazon Music folder on your Android device. Locate it at /Android/data/com.amazon.mp3/files/Music/Purchased.

On iOS

Although you can also download purchased songs with the Amazon Music iOS app, you can’t find the downloaded songs on the device. The songs can only be played offline within the Amazon Music iOS app.
