How to Play TIDAL on HomePod

The original HomePod was Apple's answer to the Amazon Echo, but with more of a focus on music and sound quality. After 4 years on the market, Apple discontinued the original HomePod as of March 12, 2021 , and will focus its efforts on the smaller and cheaper HomePod mini launched in November 2020.

Apple gave TechCrunch a statement about the discontinuation:

HomePod mini has been a hit since its debut last fall, offering customers amazing sound, an intelligent assistant, and smart home control all for just $99. We are focusing our efforts on HomePod mini. We are discontinuing the original HomePod, it will continue to be available while supplies last through the Apple Online Store, Apple Retail Stores, and Apple Authorized Resellers. Apple will provide HomePod customers with software updates and service and support through Apple Care.

When the HomePod initially launched, users could only ask Siri to play songs from Apple Music. Thankfully, that changed in 2020 when Apple added support for third-party music services. In addition to Apple Music, HomePod users can also link accounts from iHeartRadio, Pandora, Deezer, and TuneIn, but there are also a lot of notable omissions — including Spotify , YouTube Music, Tidal, and Amazon Music.

Does that mean it is impossible to Play Tidal on HomePod? Of course not. You can get Tidal on HomePod with AirPlay.
