How to Connect/Play/Control Amazon Music on Sonos

Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers can now enjoy Dolby Atmos and Ultra HD quality playback on a range of Sonos speakers and soundbars. Amazon Music subscribers will see new badges on the Now Playing screen that clearly identify the quality of whatever music you’re playing. These new badges will show either HD (lossless 16-bit stream), Ultra HD (lossless 24-bit stream), or Dolby Atmos. Sonos currently supports streaming hi-res audio from Amazon Music Unlimited (which streams up to 24-bit, 192 kHz). In order to listen to hi-res audio from Amazon Music on Sonos (which Amazon calls “Ultra HD”), you’ll need to sign up for Amazon Music Unlimited. (Note: when streaming on Sonos, the maximum sample rate is 48 kHz.)

Sonos products must be running S2 software in order to play Ultra HD audio and Dolby Atmos. Dolby Atmos music is only supported on Sonos’ Atmos-enabled soundbars, the Arc and second-gen Beam, while Ultra HD audio can be listened to on a range of Sonos speakers and devices:

  • Amp
  • Arc
  • Beam (1st and 2nd gen)
  • Connect (2nd gen)
  • Connect: Amp (2nd gen)
  • Five and Play:5 (2nd gen)
  • Move
  • One
  • One SL
  • Port
  • Roam
  • Sub (all models)
  • Symfonisk Bookshelf
  • Symfonisk Table Lamp

Ultra HD audio playback is not supported on Connect:Amp, Play:1, Play:3, Playbase, or Playbar. Dolby Atmos playback is supported on Arc and Beam.
